Fat Burning Foods List

DCF 1.0

Being on a diet takes work. Dieters need all the help they can get in finding ways to take in fewer calories and burn more of them.

Counting calories is a great way to do this, but watching what you eat is beneficial, too. Some foods can actually help you burn more fat when you eat them. Take a look at this fat burning foods list.

1. Milk

Drinking milk is a great way to burn fat. Milk is full of calcium, which acts as a metabolic trigger. A University of Tennessee study found that dieters who consumed 1,200 to 1,300 mg of calcium daily lost almost twice as much weight as dieters who consumed smaller amounts.

Milk is also a source of complex carbohydrates, which can boost your metabolism by helping keep your insulin levels stable. Insulin levels that are too high signal your body to hold onto fat.

2. Peppers

Another addition to the fat burning foods list is the pepper. And, to burn more fat; the hotter the better. Choose from jalapenos, cayenne or habanero. All contain capsaicin, which boost metabolism.

3. Green Tea

Green tea contains a chemical called EGCG that causes your brain and nervous system to run faster, much like caffeine. Only EGCG is healthier for you than caffeine, because it doesn’t cause your heart to beat faster.

4. Lean Proteins

Choose from pork, chicken, turkey or beef. These proteins are all on the fat burning foods list because, when used to replace some of the carbohydrates in your diet, they can make you burn up to five percent more calories a day.

5. Salmon and Tuna

Oily fish like these contain Omega 3 fatty acids, which, in addition to being good for your heart, reduce the hormone leptin in your body. Lower levels of leptin are associated with burning more calories.

6. Coffee

Coffee’s caffeine speeds up your metabolism. Just be certain to skip the heavy cream and sugar or you’ll negate all the benefits of the caffeine.

  1. One important addition to your milk post. It would be better if it was organic. Organic milk does not cost that much more. In educating patients about this. many have contacted me to inform me that this switch eliminated a few specific health problems that they now suspect were associated with the type of milk they consumed.
