In the world that we live in today, we have a limitless supply of top foods. However, not all of these top foods are top foods on the right list.

Some of these top foods are at the top of the good food list, while some of these top foods are at the top of the bad foods list. So, how are you to know which top foods you should be eating?

    Bacon may not be completely bad for you if you only eat it every once in a while in moderation. However, studies indicate that by making bacon a staple in your regular diet, you are killing your chances of being 100% healthy.

    If you are following a low carb diet, try mixing things up a bit with a few of the leaner meats. The curing and smoking that occurs in the process of making bacon before it hits store shelves decreases the nutritional value of bacon even further.
  3. Potpie
    The potpies that you buy at the grocery store are generally high in sodium and calories, in addition to not being very filling at all. Some of the frozen potpie varieties that are available on the shelf today have over one thousand calories and more than sixty grams of fat.
  4. Canned Chicken Soup
    The biggest problem with canned soups is the high sodium content. A single can of chicken noodle soup can contain as much as one thousand milligrams of salt.

    French fries are generally double fried in bad oils, leading to high cholesterol and a horde of additional health issues. Baked sweet potatoes are a healthier snack.

If you'll notice, most everything on the "bad" foods list is processed. If you love these foods, modify them by making them at home. A hamburger, for example, needn't be bad for you. Certainly, it is not something you would eat every day.

But, if you buy good ground beef (90/10) for enough juiciness without being greasy, and you season it yourself, using Worcestershire sauce, some mustard and a little onion powder, you can make a great tasting hamburger that is perfectly fine. Same goes for pot pie - use grilled or poached chicken, make a white sauce, add veggies and a thin crust on top - it's nutritious and comforting - and not bad in moderation.

The key is to buy fresh foods and prepare them yourself at home to avoid the added fat, sodium and preservatives. Any time food is processed to have a long shelf life and taste good with inferior ingredients; it's going to be bad for you.
