    Garlic is one of the healthiest foods you can eat, and is so often overlooked, or just added in small quantities for flavor. But, in many other countries it is eaten in much larger quantities than here in the US, and is eaten just as much for the health benefits as the taste.

    Garlic complements nearly anything you put it with, and considering that it can help keep blood pressure stable and help control diabetes, it’s surprising that we don’t find more ways to incorporate it. Garlic is also easy to grow at home; even for the person who doesn’t have a lot of garden space.

    It can easily be grown in a container if you don’t have much garden space. If you want to grow your own garlic so that you can have plenty, plant it in the fall (around October) and snip off the stems in May. Your garlic should be ready to go in July. If you store it in a cool dry place, it will keep for a long time.
